About Us

  • 1920’s

The origins of the modern Curry Warehouses can be traced back to the 1920s when John Thurman Curry started JT Curry Transfer, a household goods moving company. JT started out by hauling baggage from the train station to peoples homes.

  • JT’s son, Earl Curry Sr and Earl’s wife Edna, re-organized the company and together founded our parent company, Curry Transfer & Storage.

    1947

  • 1956

Curry became an agent of Allied Van Lines which scaled the household goods operation from regional to nationwide.

  • As a fresh Marshall University graduate, Earl Curry Jr. took over the family business and guided the company’s growth as it became the largest moving company in the area.

    1965

  • 1974

Curry purchased 20 acres and buildings from Corning Glass on Route 47/Staunton Tpk and began warehousing operations. This soon led to freight trucking as well. The birth of Curry as a 3PL.

  • Earl Jr’s son Craig joined the business in sales and quickly became the sales manager bringing in new customers and outstanding growth.

    1984

  • 2000

Craig, acquired the company focused on growing the warehousing business. Known as Curry Warehouses, the company continued the family’s original ideals of honesty and hard work as the main tenet of the business.

  • Curry entered into the commercial and industrial real estate field.

    2008

  • 2016

Craig’s son, Nick, joined the family quickly joining WERC, CSCMP, and hiring io-consultants L.P. to bring Curry up to date on the latest in industry trends.

  • Curry resumed warehousing operations at the Davisville, WV site under Nick’s leadership using new WMS systems and technologies, a fleet of all-electric forklifts, a new team of highly capable staff, and a host of fresh practices. The Davisville site became the new headquarters of the business in the same year and has seen a great deal of renovation, expansion, and development since.

    2019

  • 2022

After many years, Curry sought and received motor carrier authority to begin offering hauling and transportation once again under the familiar “Curry Transfer” moniker.

  • Introduction of Tolling Operation

In Spring of 2023, Curry began offering tolling services for the first time in its long company history after three years of development, construction, and planning. The implementation of tolling processes created over 15 new jobs, expanded the operation to two shifts, and ushered in a new era of operations for the company. Tolling services will continue to expand both in capability and capacity.
